More about Knitting in Public at the Franklin Park Library

As you know, I will be knitting with the Franklin Women’s Club on June 10, when will make purple baby hats from 10 am to  2 pm at the Franklin Park Library in Franklin Towne Center shopping plaza. This is a World Wide Knitting in Public Day event, and all are welcome.

I’ve arranged for Stephanie Michael from Prevent Child Abuse NJ to be there, too, bringing hat patterns and free purple yarn for those who will make hats with us.  Stephanie was at our Stitch-A-Thon at the Brunswick Square Mall back in April.

If you are coming, I encourage you to bring a chair and sit outside the library with us. There is room for 12 of us inside, but I think most of us will be sitting on the sidewalk outside the library, as it’s very wide and it’s sheltered by an overhang. Also, we can eat and drink out there, whereas we can’t in the library. So bring something to drink like a bottle of water, along with a bag lunch, or buy lunch from one of the vendors in the shopping center. As I recall, there is a pizza place there, as well as Confectionately Yours — the restaurant and sweet shop. And there may be a Subway there, but I am not sure.

If you want to bring purple baby hats to the event, that will be terrific. I have received about 100 hats from all of you, and I’ll be bringing those. We’ll be giving all the hats that come in that day to Stephanie.

Another thing you can bring is chemo caps. I am hoping to run over to Hunterdon Medical Center this week to deliver whatever caps I have. I’ll be swinging by the Hunterdon County Library on Route 12 in Raritan Township on my may to the hospital. Chery Grotian, the librarian who coordinates the Knitters Unite activities at that library, says the knitters and crocheters there are bringing them in, and I’m eager to see what’s there. If you dropped off a hat, thank you!

The Bridgewater Women’s Club president called me yesterday. Their members also are making the purple baby hats, although the club will not be meeting over the summer. She asked…
