Duncan volleyball falls to Ampo in first game | Sports

The Duncan Lady Demons volleyball team lost their first contest of the season, falling to Ampo 1-3.

The Lady Demons lost a close first set, 25-23, took the second set 25-20 and lost the final two sets 25-17 and 25-21.

Errors hurt Duncan in each set, but it’s an area Duncan Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Lard said they can correct.

The Lady Demons emphasized defensive efficiency heading into the season.

The team hopes to use their size to their advantage, while keeping position to limit defensive breakdowns.

As a whole, Lard is hoping to see more consistency as the season progresses.

“We might not always get the best pass, we might not always get the best set or the best hit, so we have to have our defense step up,” Lard said. “If we aren’t scoring points consistently then we have to be preventing the other team from scoring. For sure our defense has to improve overall, it has to be more consistent. I saw spurts of greatness. Like I said that second game was…
