But after a coworker called an agent, Jeremy was picked up “green” and landed his first acting gig in the movie “42” with Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford.
That’s right, 14-year-old Jeremy Ray Taylor of Bluff City has met the man who played Han Solo and Indiana Jones.
“I got discovered in Nashville and I wasn’t even going there for acting. I hadn’t even thought about acting up to that point. I’m a farmer. I live in East Tennessee,” Jeremy said. “I think God threw the person who discovered me in my way and now I’m here.”
Jeremy appeared in an episode of the TV series “Reed Between the Lines” (though the episode didn’t air), acted with Paul Rudd in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” (though the scene was later cut), and had minor roles in “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” and in the upcoming disaster movie “Geostorm” with Gerard Butler.
The biggest role on Jeremy’s resume — and one he almost didn’t take — is playing Ben Hanscom, a member of the Loser’s Club in the major motion picture “It.” Jeremy’s character is the more nerdy one of the group, he doesn’t have many friends and tends to get bullied at school.
“I was up for three roles at that point, two other movies and ‘It.’ So, I could either take the little roles or go with the big role,” Jeremy said. “I got picked up on my first audition for ‘It.’ ”
When the Taylors sent in Jeremy’s audition tape (which they do for virtually all of his auditions), the family really didn’t want to do it, Tracy admits, mainly because of the content. “It” is a Stephen King story after all, with plenty of horror and questionable language.
Nevertheless, the family went ahead and submitted a tape. The agent called them in a week and wanted Jeremy for the role. The problem is, no one had read the script.
